It's time for CBK to roll out another adventure - The Horizon Expedition: Cradle Journey! We talk a lot about exploring new horizons at CBK, but The Horizon Expedition offers you the opportunity to truly live out that meaning with a unique educational travel experience. In partnership with EF Educational Tours, our students aged 11-19 at the time of travel will have the chance to gain an international perspective through an educational lens. For our older CBK students, this may be their final program opportunity with CBK. With a pre- and post-trip curriculum bearing high school and optional collegiate credit, The Horizon Expedition combines CBK program philosophy, values, and academic rigor with 50 years of EF Educational Tours accredited expertise in providing experiential learning, cultural immersion, and authentic local connections.
In this new trip titled Cradle Journey, travel with us to South Africa to consider the anthropological roots of humankind. Immerse yourself in Nelson Mandela's historical and cultural journey through the turbulent sociopolitical history of Apartheid - instead of shying away from this dark past, South Africa defines lessons to be learned. In addition to the human diversity that will be experienced, a trip to Kruger National Park will also expose our Voyagers to the broader diversity of the animal kingdom, with lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, hippos, giraffe, and even penguins at the top of the list as we discuss conservationism. The 11-day trip will include visits to Johannesburg and Soweto, Gauteng Province, Kruger National Park, a Shangaan village, Cape Town, Robben Island, and Langa Township.
The Horizon Expedition is limited to 30 students.
The application window remains open for pre-registration.
Applicants will be reviewed by the Horizon committee and a phone interview will be required unless the student is already a Voyager. Following acceptance as a Voyager, remaining spaces for travel will be determined based upon time stamp for full completed application (including required deposits) to CBK AND EF Travel.
Horizon Expedition is expected to run every other year, meaning our next trip would be in 2023, and no, we have not decided where we will go yet!
