Please note: This guide continues to update through spring, so please check all dates for accuracy! The SOG is available as a benefit to WATS participants.
This guide has been prepared to assist students, parents, and school personnel in the selection of educational opportunities for high ability students who participated in the 2011-2012 Western Academic Talent Search. Our guide provides program information about unique opportunities in a consistent layout. Included are listings of summer programs for high ability students throughout the Rocky Mountain region, as well as national programs of interest with opportunities not available in the Rocky Mountain west.
A brief description of the Center for Bright Kids (CBK) Summer Programs is also included in the guide. These challenging acceleration and enrichment experiences have been specifically designed for talent search participants who qualify based on their SAT, ACT, or EXPLORE scores (or apply by portfolio). All WATS participants are sent a full Summer Programs Catalogue that includes application materials. Please call (303) 428-2634 or our summer programs pages for additional information.
Listings in this booklet were compiled from information made available to the Center for Bright Kids. Inclusion is not an endorsement of the program. Please contact the sponsoring agency directly for more information on specific programs. We are aware that some programs were not brought to our attention prior to publication. We invite submission of materials on any appropriate programs for inclusion in the 2012 guide.

State Associations for the Gifted
Each of the seven states in the Western Academic Talent Search area has an organization devoted to advocacy on behalf of gifted students. State associations generally lobby for legislation designed to serve gifted students, provide information, sponsor annual conventions, and offer support to parents and educators working to meet the needs of gifted children.
